Sherrod Brown for VP? Here are the videos

Mon May 12, 2008 at 12:45:13 PM PDT

This diary is cross-posted from Open Left. Since it attracted some attention there, I thought the Daily Kos community might be interested.  I hope to write similar diaries on other possible Vice Presidents.

Sherrod Brown was elected to the House of Representatives in 1992 and  defeated Republican incumbent Mike DeWine to move up to the Senate in 2006.  Chris Bowers has suggested him as a possible Vice President.

I thought I would look at youtube to get a sense of how Sherrod Brown would perform as a VP candidate.  Personally, I'm very impressed, but look for yourself...

How he dealt with Wolf Blitzer repeating Republican talking points:

Here's an example of a Meet the Press debate, a closing statement at traditional debate, and a response at a traditional debate on religious values:

Here's an example of a Sherrod Brown Commercial on trade.

These is no sense are meant to be fully representative of Brown's political views (after all, I am collecting the videos because I am hardly familiar with him.)  But it certainly seems he would be a strong candidate, able to deal with the press and Republicans. He's no Dan Quayle.

Update:  Sherrod Brown (wikipedia) was born in 1952 has served in elected office as:

  • Ohio State Representative, 1974-1982
  • Ohio Secretary of State, 1983-1990
  • House of Representatives, 1992-2006
  • U.S. Senator, 2007+
